SmartNews Ads makes it possible for advertisers to target or exclude certain users from ads based user information either obtained on their own or by SmartNews.

This allows advertisers to specify conditions/data such as "users who have already used this service" and "users who have viewed this specific content" to customize the target audience and maximize effectiveness.

What is an audience?

Audiences are customized targeting segments.
New segments can be defined using various data sources.

Data sources include:

  • Postback data
  • Campaign results
  • Pixel tag data
  • Keywords
  • User interest

and more.

Audience definition settings

Define your audience as follows:

Top page > Audience settings

1Select [オーディエンス設定] (audience settings) from the top menu.
2After being redirected, choose the Custom Audience you want to create from [新規オーディエンス定義作成] (create a new custom audience).

[ユーザー定義オーディエンス作成] (create a custom audience) can be used to create lists of the following users:

広告主様のAppを利用したことがあるユーザーリストを作成する

Users who have previously seen your ad

Users who have previously visited your website

Users who viewed articles containing specific keywords

Users interested in specific categories

[結合オーディエンス作成] (create a combined audience) can be used to to combine multiple user lists.

[IDリストアップロード] (upload ID list) can be used to upload your own mobile advertising ID list.

SmartNews Ads creates new segments typically within 48 hours. This is done through periodic processing. Therefore, the submitted data will be delayed for up to 48 hours.

*Campaigns can only be set when the audience data status is "created." For delivery settings, please refer to Configuring User-Defined Audiences.

Custom audience automatic updates

Custom audiences will switch auto-update status when certain conditions are met.

Deactivation 

"Custom Audience" will automatically be turned from "on" to "off" if it is not directly linked to the ad campaign and has not been updated for 30 days.

Activation

If an audience is specified for a campaign with proven performance within the past 30 days, that audience is automatically activated.

If you set an audience with automatic renewal to "off", your ad may not be shown for a certain period of time.
If more than 30 days have passed since ad distribution stopped, as in the above conditions,  automatic updates will be turned off, so it is necessary to check the automatic data update status before publication.
